Job Description Who You Are:
The Claims Team Lead supervises the activities and development of claim managers/staff to promote quality and effective claims handling.
Supports the goals of Synergy Comp Insurance Company by assuring compliance with the claims handling model and the claims manual.
What You'll Do:
Coach and mentor claim professionals by providing guidance on compensability, procedures, legal questions, and proper reserving and monitoring files.
Meet regularly with Claims Managers and claims Support Coordinators on file reviews to develop claim strategies, ensuring consistent and successful execution of claims initiative.
Complete file reviews on claims all open and reopened claims as scheduled, ensuring compliance with state and Synergy guidelines.
Provide effective suggestions and strategies to claims managers to assist in driving files to closure.
Ensure all claims of oversight are reserved at the ultimate probable cost.
Monitor individual and team results to ensure they align with the targeted KPIs; develop individual and team strategies for all metrics of opportunity.
Provide consultation on volume and staffing trends by reviewing weekly diary counts and the claims manager's weekly report.
Attend Litigated and Non-Litigated file reviews and ensure documentation/compliance with follow-up items discussed in the reviews.
Facilitate weekly round table meetings to discuss problematic claims, code red claims, and department changes.
Oversee completion of new hire onboarding for designated direct reports with completion of the training track, 30/60/90 day reviews, 6-month panel interviews, and established exams to HR within designated time frames.
Assign claim files for Peer Audit and ensure monthly Peer Audits are completed by the Claims Supervisor.
Manage Adjuster Licenses and ensure timely completion of CE credits to maintain an active license.
Keep senior management informed on major claims or those that present challenging resolutions.
Involve General Counsel on claim issues and decisions when appropriate.
Qualifications What You'll Need:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required 5 years of claims management experience, with demonstrated success in managing and motivating teams Insurance designation preferred but not required Well-developed outside attorney management/oversight skills involving large, complex claims in a range of jurisdictions Excellent knowledge of workers comp investigative techniques and legal precedents.
PA Workers Comp experience preferred Additional Information What Makes Synergy Different?
